Prayer is a powerful thing that can break the unbreakables, cure the uncurable and that makes the impossible possible. I have heard these more than a hundred times and believed in it once and still have some belief. But, is there a thing that has 100% surety? Can prayer make anything possible? Then why didn't people pray for eternal peace in this world? The truth is, people did pray for these but it will never happen. I've seen a documentary on the mysteries in The History Channel. Once I saw about Telepathy. The documentary states US govt. had researched on telepathy and found some stunning results. but, the problem is, it is not accurate. The people who claims they have the power, can accurately point out things that is impossible for a normal person. but, the thing is, they can't always be correct. out of the ten things they say, five or six will be correct and the rest is not.And there are yet another phenomenon in which people conduct mass prayer sessions claiming they can cure diseases and do impossible. Of course, there are 100s of people who claims that their disease got cured 'coz of the prayer. And some or most of these cases might be genuine. However, is this possible for all? Will everyone who go there to pray get cured? The answer is definitely no. Otherwise, we might not need any hospitals, right?
I know there are a lot of people out there who believes in this. I too want to believe it. It will be great, if we can achieve anything by praying, right? Sometimes, it work for some people. But, at all times, it will not work for all. So, Is there a sure thing?
PS: This is just my thought. It is not meant for laughing at or contradicting others belief.

prayer has some effect, that too when done together.its healing..
ReplyDeletehmm when it comes to prayers....one should not be selfish..you know what i mean :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all a matter of faith. But of course, actions need to be in accordance too.
ReplyDeleteyou know i believe thoughts are powerful but they are not enough, one should act to achieve what they want. You cant wait for the mitacle to happen, you are here to make this miracle happen
ReplyDeleteyou know everything is based on faith....
ReplyDeletethink about this....
how does mass prayers help?because many people collectively have faith to make things work
how does a soldier come out injured from the battlefield, making his side proud, because he had faith....
how does experiments that are put to use in real life work?because some man had faith in his talent and ability....
everything is based on faith,an undying belief that goes beyond any logical reasoning....
Good post. I generally believe that praying is powerful. But have no idea about its extent to cure diseases and all. Iam not sure too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt could be the placebo effect.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u Aneesh. I dun believe Praying wud CURE ppl and bring abt PEACE just like that. If thats the case, this world has be free of Disease and War by now. Cos alot of ppl do pray.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more related to FAITH. If u believe in something, its likely to happen. So u keep telling urself u'll be OK, u will be.
But curing diseases need doctors...trust me, or else my Aunt wudnt hv died at just 60 or my dad wudnt hv died at just 44. We all 'prayed' for their illnesses to be cured, but when the time is up, one must go, no matter what.
Keshi.
Also, I 'prayed' I get a nice man some day, Im still 'praying'! lol!
ReplyDeleteKeshi.
one more thing...if ppl stopped 'praying' for a while, and really start DOING things properly, then life wud give us alot in return.
ReplyDeleteI always believed in the following quote:
Hands that do Service are holier than the lips that Pray.
I like this post alot Aneesh. U bring out the best and the most IMP topics to discuss. Well done!
Keshi.
prayer is really a strong bonding with god..!!
ReplyDeletewell but most important thing is to pray from heart and pray regularly rathar than only when therz a need
It's really ones perspective, it's relative. If you want to believe, alright, but if you don't, that's fine too. But it should not be that you think prayer will solve everything and not put in your own efforts. That's foolishness!
ReplyDeletehey aneesh i have changed my url to
ReplyDeletehttp://waves-of-light.blogspot.com/
well yes, prayer is telling yourself something and reassuring yourself...as long as you are sure of what you are doing,it doesnt matter...
ReplyDeleteI agree prayer is nothing concrete but its just a matter of belief or faith. its something that gives you peace of mind. and yes there's no sure thing.
ReplyDeleteanwesa,
ReplyDeleteI agree with that "some effect"
:)
lukkydivz,
ReplyDeleteI have mentioned that also, praying for world peace is not selfish
:)
Sameera,
ReplyDeleteAction and faith.. I agree..
:)
Lena,
ReplyDeleteYah, that's what I am talking about
:)
phoenix,
ReplyDeleteYah, I agree with that FAITH. I accept it. But, the question is "will it work always?".
Will mass prayers help always for those who have faith?
Will a soldier comes from a battlefield uninjured always?
Will all experiment work?
:)
saranya,
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
Well, I thought you might have heard about such incidents :)
Sol,
ReplyDeleteCould be or not
:)
Keshi,
ReplyDeleteExactly! it's a matter of faith and hope in this hopeless world.
***curing diseases need doctors
Perfect, that's what I was talking about and I too have personal experience on this. Sorry to hear about your dad and aunt :(. Yah, when the time's up, we gotta go!
Haha, keep praying, who knows you might get a nice man when you are ninety LOL
Praying v/s doing... right on spot 'N ofcourse the quote is correct in every sense. People who is lying shattered in a bomb blast or an accident needs a doctor more than holy quotes from bible, quran or Bhagavadgita.
Thanks keshi.. 'N you does that better than me.
:)
prajyot,
ReplyDeleteI agree with that buddy, but my question was whether it is a sure thing that we can depend up on?
:)
Tara,
ReplyDeleteThat's what I meant, Perfect
:)
Phoenix,
ReplyDeleteNo probs, will update with it.
:)
vishesh,
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a new definition I am hearing, I thought prayer is our communication with God.
:)
akshaya,
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
I have to agree with you.
see your questions is a bit cynical if you have faith in all probably it will...why question..why not have faith and see if it works?
ReplyDeletemmmm an answer to a prayer depends upoun your faith in the Lord.
ReplyDeleteHealing also depends upon your faith in the Lord, whenever you pray you need to surrender yourself to the Lord, believe that whatever u request will be granted.
Please focus on the word believe, humans always have 2 minds, if a person is in this state then it shows how faithful he/she is to the Lord.
well i think praying has its own effect
ReplyDeletedat u cant see always..but it has
Im glad u agree with wut I said.
ReplyDeleteLook at Jehovah's Witnesses..they dun do blood tansfusions even if they are dying. How silly is that?
**Haha, keep praying, who knows you might get a nice man when you are ninety
I dun mind...as long as he can PRAY with me in bed. hahahahaha!
Keshi.
i believe prayer s 4 personal satisfaction...peace of mind..
ReplyDeletenot 4 fulfillin' selfish needs...
Not all prayers are answered!
ReplyDeleteYou're right.I have experienced it! You have posted a good topics.
here i wud say tat yes not all who go there get healed but in tat case we can't the authenticity of those who do get healed. I wud say tat there are many mysteries in this world and it may be one of them.
ReplyDeleteand lastly its ultimately the matter of our belief or non belief.
those who believe they have all the reasons in the world to prove it right and the others who don't believe have all the reasons to prove it wrong.
tats all
phoenix,
ReplyDeleteCynical?
Who told I didn't try it? I had faith, but it didn't work, see keshi's comments, she too had a similar experience
:)
IPJ,
ReplyDeleteI agree that we need to believe. But, you know our belief can't be measured. We believe and pray. Sometimes, it work, sometimes, it don't.
:)
joiedevivre,
ReplyDeleteI didn't say there is no effect
:)
Keshi,
ReplyDeleteJehovah's witnesses? Yah, don't know what they are up to.
Haha LOL
:)
Pooja,
ReplyDeleteNice belief, but my question was about the result, selfish or not
:)
Sri,
ReplyDeleteCool :)
PJ,
ReplyDeleteI agree it's a matter of belief and disbelief. Some believe, no matter what; some don't believe, no matter what.
Some believe, if they think it is useful.
But, even for those who believe, things won't always go 100%, that was my point.
