Girls? Noooooooo!!!!

Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been to blogging. As you might know I've been pretty busy :P. Now that I've got some time to breathe, I thought about coming back to my usual self. Hope you all are doing well and good.
After a long time, again I'm coming up with a personal post. Hope you'll like it. so, here we go.

I had problem talking with girls. To be precise, I was scared. Didn't know why. I spent my boyhood in a school where boys and girls had separate buildings. We were not supposed to cross the invisible boundary between the both. I got punished a few times when I trespassed while playing. And naturally, these led to the thought that girls are some kind of strange creatures. Think about girls in UFOs. Though we frequently followed their UFOs covertly :P, we never did that in a straight manner.

I didn't know how to talk, what to talk to girls, though like every guy, I too wanted to talk :P. I forgot they are also humans. I still remember, when I was put into a team, during my 11th standard physics lab, which had one girl and 3 boys including me. The girl was gorgeous. All the guys, who were not in our team were envious about us. The two guys with me were competing with each other to talk to her, to help her etc etc, where as, I was relieved, so that I don't have to talk to her.

I talked very few when she was around and concentrated too much on the lab experiments that no experiments actually worked :). I used to keep the maximum possible distance between her and myself and kept a mental apparatus which raised an alarm when the distance is reduced. I never started any form of conversation with her. The problem is, she always will.

Though I was not very good in studies at that time, I was not bad either. As said earlier, this team was formed to do experiments in our physics lab. God! I cannot forget those horrible moments when she came to me to ask doubts about experiments 'N every guy in the room was staring at me with their mouth open. I will get so nervous that, once I gave her my whole lab report when she asked about just a particular value. She told me to wait for a few minutes so that she can copy certain other results.

Hmmm! you know what I did? I told her to give it to one of our teammates and I escaped from there. LOL. All those seems so funny now. Anyway, this problem continued for a few more years, but then I decided I need to change and I tell you what? I had very trying time to get rid of this. But, as the quote slow 'N steady wins the race says,  somehow I became normal 'N now I have some of my best friends whom are girls.

PS: Sorry if I missed any tags. I know a few of you have tagged me in these days of my disappearance. please forgive me since I lost who-tagged-when notes :P

pinhole glasses review

I had received a pair of pinhole glasses(shown below) and I would like to share a few words about them.

First of all, its not something I had ever come across before, but they are being marketed as an affordable alternative to prescription eyeglasses. At $14.99 a pair, they are certainly affordable.
According to the pinhole glasses website
Pinhole glasses are

Completely Natural
Scientific
Really Effective
Durable &
Affordable
alternatives to prescription eyeglasses.

I would like to mention something here. Though they claim, it’s scientific, I’ve done a bit of research myself and couldn’t find any valid proof for this statement. So, I would recommend you to find it out yourself about the validity of this statement.
Anyway, I’ve used it myself for a few days and my comments are given below.

pinhole eye-glasses are light-weight, made of good quality plastic(I think so :P). I have found it good to wear while using computers, while very difficult to use in dim lighting. And if you wear this outside you will get some what-is-this kinda stare from everyone.

I would like to mention one more thing, I have not used it for quite long, so don’t know the long-term effects, if any. One of my friends has used it and told it’s very difficult to use and he had some vision problem.
So, the bottom line is, technologies and ideas are popping up every day. If you want to try this out yourself, may be this will work for you and you may be relieved from the prescription glasses after using this for sometime.

The making of a Husband!!!

Finally, guys, on Aug 17, 2009 at 11:30AM(that's tomorrow), I am becoming a husband. Yuppiee! that's my marriage date.

I know, this is my first post after my engagement post. But, what to do, it's very difficult to manage all these, eh? Hopefully, after marriage, my wife might help me with blogs :)

Anyway, though I didn't comment, I used to visit most of your blogs. Hemanth also got married. All the best wishes for him.

Mmm. So, now a days, guys are overtaking girls when it comes to marriage. Guys, getting married early and girls pretty late. you might not agree. But, this overtaking is one of the comments that I got from my lady-teammates here.

well, i cannot imagine myself becoming a husband. I know, it's too late not to imagine that way.
Becoming a husband means lot of responsibility, new priorities and what not?

And, last but not the least, i cannot conclude my post without mentioning the post PJ had put up for hemanth and I. Such a cute and caring friend. Thank you PJ for that wonderful post.

Hope to get back in blogging soon....

So, finally, I think I am getting a chance to enjoy a life completely filled with colors. Suddenly everything has got a new meaning. Certain songs you start liking more, certain movies you start liking more, certain things you start liking more.. what else those who have ever fall in love knows it.

Okay, a few words about my fiancee. She is working as a lecturer in an engineering college, here itself and almost about my age.

Well, this was an arranged marriage. Everything happened so quickly within the last three weeks. So guys.... what to say..... :) Say something....

Vishu, Elections, Awards and ......ahem, nothing :)

Here's an update on what was going on on my side.  I guess, it's going to be a long post.
First, after a long time, I got some time off 'coz of holidays. One because of Vishu.

Vishu is keralite's new year. It is believed that whatever you see the first time in the morningon Vishu day determines the rest of the year. It's called Kani. So, if you see good things, it is believed the rest of the year would be great and viceversa, if otherwise. Nice belief, isn't it? Normally, what people do is, they set up everything for kani on the previous day itself so that the first thing that they see will be the prepared kani and not some unexpected unfortunate sight, like a dead cockroach, may be :).

Basically, this kani includes, an idol or picture of Krishna, a lighted lamp, fruits, vegetables and a particular flower, kani konna, which we will get only during the Vishu season. These fruits, vegetables, flowers are supposed to indicate prosperity. So, if you see Sri krishna and the flowers, fruits etc as your kani, then it is belived nothing can be a better way to welcome the new year and the year will be great.

Parents wake up early closing their eyes and slowly move in the darkness searching for the room where this kani is set up and will open their eyes only when the place is reached. Then they will wake up their kids, 'N cover their eyes with their hands and will lead them to the room to see kani.

The next process is giving kayneetam, which means you'll have to give something to other people. It is similar to sakkat in Islam. Normally, money will be given as kayneetam. Kids will get money from their parents, relatives, grandparents etc and they are free to spent it, not much ofcourse. In the old days, land lords used to give clothes, food and other things as kani to farmers who worked on their lands. I remember the time, waking up and running around the near by houses with our gang to collect money. After that, a good feast will be prepared for the day.

I had a nice experience which I would like to share. This happened when I was around 7 or 8. One of our parents' friend was staying near our house. We used to call him Uncle and was really close to him. Or it would be better to say he was good with kids. He always did whatever we asked him. Once he bought a new car and went to see his relatives and came back a bit late, really tired. Seeing his new car, we ran around him asking to take as around in it. Our parents scolded us for pestering him and told us to leave, but he took all of us in his car and drove us around for a while. What a nice person he was. After marriage, he got transferred to some place really far from here and we lost contact with him. I have never seen him after that.

So, back to the story, once we went to get kayneetam from him. We used to get coins from everyone as kayneetam. But, that day something else happened. He gave a stack of rupees with a coin on the top, for each of us. We were surprised at the amount of money that was given to us. God! I thought, I was the richest person in this world. We took it all and ran back to show our parents "See how much uncle gave us?" No need to say, my parents were in a laughing fit and taught us the whole story of how it works.

Actually, the way of giving kayneetam is quite different. A number of 10Rupee or 100Rupee notes will be stacked and a coin will be placed on the top. You are supposed to take only the coin. Well, that was the process. But, what people usually did was giving the coins directly, rather than taking the pain to arrange the notes and putting a coin on top. So, we were new to this. This uncle saw us coming for kayneetam. He prepared the kayneetam for each of us neatly and gave us. Instead of taking just the coin, we took all of his money, I guess :). He might have shocked to see all his salary going to a bunch of brats.

Anyway, we got ashamed when we heard the story and went back to give the money. But, he won't take it. He said once kayneetam is given it should not be accepted back. So, I don't know what exactly happened. I guess, my parents might have given him the money back as a kayneetam to him. :)

So, that's the vishu story. No need to say, this vishu is nothing special now. Everything's only for kids, right? No kayneetam now, no kani now. I have lost belief in such things long time ago. So, it was like a normal day. But still memories are there to cherish. As someone had once said..."the good old days".

Now, the Loksabha elections had happened here last Thursday. So, that day was also a holiday. I went to cast my vote. I am not that political, but I think we need to exercise our vote, not that it matters much. Sashi Tharoor was one of the candidate here. You might know him, he was the former UN under secretary general. The main competition is between UDF and LDF. Not going into detailed analysis of polling. I know you might get bored, if you haven't already :)

After a long time. I got two awards from two of my dearest friends -PJ and Saranya . Thank you very much. Oops! forgot to mention the awards. One was Honest crap, sorry, Honest scrap by Saranya and the other was Excellent award by PJ.
Have a great week ahead friends...
